Plants & Animals East Sikkim

Sikkim is a land filled with an abundance of wildlife, exhibiting some very rare species of animals that are only in limited regions of the Himalayas. The dense forests of the district are an optimal shelter for 4000 species of plants, animals, and birds that inhabit this state. The higher terrains are home to animals such as Red panda, Barking deer, Snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, Wild ass, Flying squirrels while the forests consist of trees such as Sal, Fig, Maple, Chestnut, Pine, and many more. Having such lavish wildlife, the state also has abundant birdlife with more than 550 species constituting around 30% of all the birds found in the Indian sub-continental. This is why Sikkim has become the hotspot for birdwatching
