Ravangla

Home to exotic flora and fauna, Ravangla sees a large number of tourists who is a nature enthusiast and love exploring the wildlife. The place is also filled with haughty snow mountains, speedy bustling waterfalls, quaint and traditional villages, large sprawling tea gardens, followers of ethnic culture, and centuries-old monasteries.
The Buddha Park located about a kilometer away from Ravangla town featuring a 130 ft statue is one of the prime destinations that tourists visit. About 60 tonnes of copper and some 4kgs of gold were used for the statue built in the repoussé technique, one of the oldest metal-working practices in the world. The statue looks stunning when it is lit up after sunset. The park complex also houses several eateries and cafes where one can get to taste the traditional food of Sikkim as well as other cuisines. One should also visit the Bon Monastery, one of the only two built-in India (the only other being in Himachal Pradesh). This monastery at Kewzing is built in an Indo-Tibetan style, decorated with paintings of deities and the Bon Buddha. It is located around 6 km from Ravangla along the Ravangla-Legship route.
Another great activity is also known as ‘cha-chu’, or popularly known as hot spring baths. The two hot spring posts in Ravangla are Borong and Ralong located within a distance of 7 km from each other. High in sulphur, the steaming waters are said to have excellent therapeutic properties. Ralong can be reached after an hour-long walk from Ralong monastery. Borong is 7 km from Ralong, and a 40-minute walk downhill.
The Temi Tea Garden that is world-renowned for its super quality tea leaves is also situated in Ravangla. It can be reached easily from other towns too such as Pelling, Namchi, and Gangtok. Spread over a large sprawling area it has many experiences to give to a visitor.
